Bro. Nicholas M. Hatten - 12th National President

He was initiated through the South Florida Alumni & Professional Chapter on March 22, 2013, where he served as chapter secretary, vice president and dean of pledges (respectively). He played an integral role in community involvement and exposure in his home chapter by building strategic relationships and partnerships with Miami-based organizations. They worked to enhance the lifestyle of the LGBTQ community such as: Empower “U”, The Miami Men’s Mpowerment Project, Pridelines, Inc., Florida Department of Health and the Suntrust Stadium.

In 2015, Hatten was elected as the national Director of Convention Services. Where he acquired the first conference sponsorship for the organization and introduced innovative ideas such as the organization’s first community discussion panel called “Bundle of Sticks and Queers.” The controversial panel featured community leaders and icons such as TS Madison, Rue Crowder, Gee and Juan Smalls to name a few; and attracted so much attention from the community that attendees were standing in overflow.

He has served on the National Projects Committee, Southern Region Reclamation, and Retention Committee, and has served in other various leadership roles such as the Southern Region Executive Director where he secured the region's first sponsorship donation.

After relocating to Atlanta, GA, Brother Hatten joined the Metro Atlanta Alumni & Professional chapter where he served as Chapter Vice President and Chapter President. Under his leadership, the chapter successfully launched and accomplished the completion of the “D.I.S.T.I.N.C., Library” where over 200 books were donated to a local after-school program. In 2019, Brother Hatten was elected as the 11th Southern Regional Director. During his short tenure, he was able to achieve regional chapter growth and expansion, increase retention numbers and boost morale during the “rebirth” of the Southern Region.  After observation of his leadership, Brother Hatten was asked by the National Executive Board to serve as 1st National Vice-President.  Under his leadership, he lead the effort to reform the operations of the organization through reporting, instilling checks and balances and revising the organization’s governing documents.

Through his efforts and dedication to the bond, Brother Hatten’s goals are to continue to challenge himself and members of MOD to push toward greater “innovative service,” a higher standard of operational excellence and a strong foundation of brotherhood.
